There is nothing like a little canning to make a person feel useful. The birds haven't discovered the concord grapes yet and we sterilized jars, measured sugar and juice, boiled, poured, and sealed almost three gallons of jelly today. I wonder if only the old and retired can today? I think the prairie berry jelly provided a lot of little homestead children their vitamin C.

I am amazed, Willo, at how many people are telling me that they have gone back to canning, and how much they are enjoying it. I have to admit they are all mostly past fifty, but one lady mentioned what a pleasure it was not to have little ones running around under foot while she was creating luscious jars of fruit and jellies. Congratulations on yours, - they look delicious. I remember how much satisfaction it gave me to make sour cherry jelly, holding the jars up to the light and seeing them glow!

Awww... Those jars of jelly look beautiful. I took a closer look and I think I saw my name on one. Be sure you save it for me! I just finished my last jar you gave me and had to buy a store brand and it just doesn't compare to your homemade jelly. :)

Your name is on one of them, Janet...and Bryce's is on one also!

I have two 'young' unretired friends who did a lot of canning this year--one in her twenties, the other closer to my age... :D I would be joining them if I had any space for a garden!
When I looked at your jars, I found myself wishing I could hold them to the light. Your friends in the earlier post had the same thought, I believe.
